NBA 2K9 Gameplay Video

by Doreen E. Flores

This recently released gameplay video shows NBA 2K9 for the first time in its current form, well as it was at this year’s E3. This gameplay is from the demonstration given by 2K in which the developers discuss their renewed focus on “the overall package” and how they aim to improve their presentation levels.

Watching the video, even though it is fairly poor quality, it can be seen that 2K9 is shaping up nicely. Throughout the game, you also hear for the first time the “new” commentary team calling the game and even get to hear Cheryl Miller chime in from the sidelines. With Kenny Smith no longer in the game, Clark Kellogg provides this year’s color commentary in what seems to be a fairly smooth fashion.
Some things in this build may have been fixed by now, but we noticed that a fair bit of the commentary is indeed recycled, something 2K fans know all too well. Overall though, the game really seems to flow well and the animations particularly stand out as being smoother than ever.

We can’t wait to get a clearer look at 2K9 in the coming weeks, and if you need more 2K info, for the time being, check out all of our NBA 2K9 features, screens, and previews here.

NBA Live 09 information is reaching a critical mass these past few weeks and it just keeps coming! Just released from the folks over at xboxfront.de is this gameplay video showing off NBA Live 09.

While it’s great to see some actual in-game footage the actual plays showed are rather repetitive and don’t really capture any of the new features of the game. It can be seen, however, that the animations and specifically the off-balance movements of players after shots have been improved greatly. We here at sport video games are all about the “hardcore” simulation games and often strive to get our games playing as realistically as possible, editing sliders, tweaking rosters, checking stats religiously, just as many of you do. Sometimes though, we just want to sit back, relax with some friends and play a solid, fun, arcade game that harkens back to the times when gameplay was king, and sending your friends’ fastball flying was the only thing you cared about.

The overall flow of the gameplay also seems to have improved dramatically over previous year’s games. And if the passing game is snappy it looks like for the first time in a long time there might be two great basketball games to own this coming season.
